Historians and mathematicians

Within our history leaning this week, the children of Lions class have been researching the Victorian era. The children utilised a range of resources, including fact cards, QR codes linking to websites, news paper articles and diary entries, to find information about what life was like for the Victorians. The children worked in pairs and shared their findings on our working wall.

We also talked about the reason this period of history was called the Victorian age. We learnt about the life of Queen Victoria during her reign and added key dates to our class timeline. The children also enjoyed completing an interactive quiz using the information they had identified in their research.

As mathematicians the children have been looking at creating equal groups and using repeated addition number sentences to help us calculate how many items we have altogether. The children have worked fantastically with their learning partners to identify solutions to their problem solving activities this week. They were especially resilient when we moved on to creating arrays with equal rows and columns.
